A BRIEF INTRO

Corporate law involves the study of law that regulators the working of incorporated bodies. It regulates all matters, from the registration of companies to their dissolution. Corporate law applies to allied legislation as well. It also caters with securities legislations. The company legislation in India began with the Joint Stock Companies Act 1850 and from it we developed the Companies Act 1956

TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE

8 am: Talk with clients, scrutinize e-mails from clients

9 am: Write letters/mails

10 am: Work at office  starts

10:30 am onwards: Meetings, hearing and discussions.  

1:30 pm: lunch if time permits

2:30 pm: Work continues

5 pm: Drafting, preparation of documents etc

9 pm:  Drafting work continues

10 pm: Bound for home

SALARY STRUCTURE

The earning potential of a corporate lawyers varies according to his calibre and the nature of employment With industry

New Entrant:  Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh a year

Managerial Level: Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh a year

Senior Managerial Level:  Rs. 25 lakh onwars a year

Independent practitioner: Senior Managerial Level: Rs. 40 lakh onwards per annum

  • Good knowledge of all relevant statutes, rules and regulations etc
  • Very good command over English
  • Drafting, oratory and debating DESIRED QUALITIES
  • The ability to foresee various situations, which the client may face
  • Ability to work for long hours
  • Be computer savvy

  • Analytical DESIRED QUALITIES and rational approach

HOW DO I GET THERE ?

Humanities courses is certainly helpful. But you can also do it after commerce or Science at 10+2. You can do Three-year LLB programme, to be taken up after graduation or take Five-year integrated BA, LLB. Programme after passing class XII. Further on, you can pursue specialization in one of the disciplines of law
